Celebrating 40 Years of Impact: Our Journey from Coram Life Education to Coram SCARF
For 40 years, Coram Life Education has supported children’s health, wellbeing, and personal development through engaging, evidence-based learning. What began as an innovative approach to health education has grown into a trusted, nationwide programme helping millions of children navigate the world with confidence, resilience, and kindness.
As we mark this milestone year, we’re proud to share the next step in our evolution: Coram Life Education is now Coram SCARF.
This change reflects not a departure, but a realignment — bringing our name, our identity, and our mission fully together as we look to the future.
Our Story: Four Decades of Supporting Children
Coram Life Education was founded with a simple but powerful idea: that every child deserves the knowledge and skills to make safe, healthy, and informed choices. Through innovative delivery, originally via our iconic mobile classrooms, children experienced learning that was memorable, practical, and rooted in real-world wellbeing.
Across the years, our work expanded. Our programme grew in depth and reach, embracing new themes, new teaching methods, and new digital resources. What remained unchanged, however, was our commitment to helping children develop essential life skills: empathy, resilience, positive relationships, mental wellbeing, and the ability to thrive in a changing world.

From our early days through to the present, our work has been powered by educators, schools, partners, and communities who believe in wellbeing education that truly makes a difference.
The Rise of SCARF
As our curriculum and training evolved, one framework emerged at the heart of everything we do:
SCARF – Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience, Friendship.
SCARF quickly became one of the UK’s most widely used PSHE and wellbeing programmes, trusted by thousands of schools and early years settings. It offered structure, clarity, and a shared language to support children’s personal development.
SCARF wasn’t just a set of resources — it was a way of supporting whole-child wellbeing that resonated with teachers, practitioners, and families.
Over time, SCARF became the name most people knew us by. It reflected the values that guide our work and the principles we champion every day.
Why Realign Our Brand Now?
As we reached our 40-year milestone, we saw an opportunity to bring our identity into alignment with our impact.
The name “Coram SCARF” captures:
- the heart of our curriculum
- the values children learn through our programmes
- the trusted framework used daily in schools
- the modern, inclusive approach we take to wellbeing education
It provides clarity, cohesion, and a shared identity across everything we do — from classroom learning to educator training to early years support.
Most importantly, it strengthens our ability to communicate our purpose: to help children flourish emotionally, socially, and academically.
What This Change Means
Although our name has evolved, our commitment remains the same.
Our mission is unchanged: We continue to champion children’s health, resilience, and lifelong wellbeing.
Our team is unchanged: The same passionate educators, trainers, and specialists stand behind every resource and partnership.
Our programmes remain trusted and evidence-based: SCARF continues to grow as a comprehensive, impactful curriculum hub.
What has changed is our clarity. A name that truly represents who we are — and who we’ve always been.
Looking Ahead: The Next 40 Years
As Coram SCARF, we’re stepping into the next chapter with confidence, purpose, and an even stronger identity.
We’ll continue to stand alongside schools, early years settings, and communities.
We’ll continue to innovate and respond to the evolving needs of children. And we’ll continue to champion wellbeing as the foundation for every child’s learning and life chances.
Thank you for being part of our journey so far.
Here’s to the next 40 years — and the many children we will support together.
