EYFS – add drawings of their positive feelings when they have filled a bucket.
KS1 – Add simple drawing of kind actions and label them.
KS2 – Add written reflections and pledges sharing how they are going to help fill other people's buckets.
Resources
- Display resources
- Large, decorated bucket
- Children's work
Activity 2 - Secret Kindness Challenge
Each child in the school is given a secret person to do kind things for during the day.
It could be organised so that the older classes are paired with the younger classes where appropriate. The anonymous acts of kindness can happen at play times.
The challenge is for the children to go undetected.
At the end of the day, it can be revealed who their bucket filler was!
Assembly 1 - It begins with you
Share the story – book or videoChildren reveal their secret bucket filling identity.
Classes can celebrate and share examples of their work
Pupil Pledge – Call and response
“I choose to be kind”“I will fill buckets”
“I will help others”
“I will be an upstander”
Learn and sing the song – This little light of mine – I'm gonna let it shine.
Reflect - This song reminds us that each of us has a ‘light’ inside us—our kindness, our choices, and who we are. ‘It begins with me’ means it’s up to each of us to use that light to make good choices, spread kindness and be a good friend.
