Key Stage 1 RSE Day 2026 Activities

Activity 1 - Kindness Detectives challenge

Give the children (detectives) a kindness mission.

Explain that throughout the day they are going to try and detect 3 examples of bucket filling behaviour. However, the challenge is to make note of the evidence they have collected and keep it to themselves until it is time to share their findings as a class.

Invite children to share their findings during a whole class reflection time.

Resources

KS1 Activity sheet

Activity 2 - Thought tapping

Split the children into small groups of about four or five and invite them to select a scenario card.

Ask the group to read the scenario and then try to create a photograph/ still image of the situation by acting it out.

Give them about 5 – 10 minutes to do this and explain that we will have a look at each of the acted-out photograph and then think a liitle bit more about how the characters in the photo might be feeling.

To do this the teacher will ask the class to look at one photo at a time and tap some of the children on the shoulder and ask them what has happened and how they are feeling.

Adult prompts:

  • How are you feeling?
  • What has happened?
  • Is this a bucket dipping or a bucket filling situation?
  • How did your behaviour make a difference?
  • What could you have done instead?
